LionsPart of the reason the Lions have developed a more sophisticated business operation is that teams can no longer rely on revenue sharing to cover all the bills.

“The NFL model has evolved over the years. There was a big fat check that came from the league office from television (contracts), and there wasn’t necessarily a need to be aggressive on the business side,” said Len Perna“It made sense to have the team in the hands of the football guys.”
